An initiative of The Professional Mediators' Association is  to address the growing number of concerns and changes in the workplace. This includes structural and economic influences and how this has led to conflict. The forums focus is alternative dispute resolution in the workplace to address the differing problems in each sector.

The National forums are designed to address these problems using the wealth of experience from industry and mediation experts and aims to:

  • To raise awareness of mediation and its benefits.
  • To promote knowledge transfer between constituent members of the forum.
  • To promote benchmarking, research and dissemination of best practice across members of the forum and further afield.
  • To offer case studies from across the constituent members of the forum
  • To offer interesting and valuable insights from relevant experts
  • To seek opportunities for wider awareness raising, lobbying and influencing of policy makers

Attend the next National Forum for Mediation in Healthcare

The forum will provide an opportunity for healthcare professionals and management to discuss how mediation can be and is being used at every level of the national and private healthcare systems.

Introduction
More and more NHS Trusts are now using mediation to resolve discrimination and bullying harassment allegations. Trusts such as the Royal Free, Bournemouth Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster and Basingstoke & North Hampshire are seeing real benefits of setting up mediation schemes giving them access to mediators when they need them.

Evidence from bodies such as CIPD, the CBI and BIS suggest that mediation reduces stress; it saves time and saves money. Mediation features highly in the recent Government report on Dispute Resolution (available here).

“The mediation of workplace disputes has the potential to lead to a major and dramatic shift in the culture of employment relations. Benefits would include a reduced number of employment tribunals and reduced fears of tribunals amongst employers.”

This one-day forum will explore the issues and trends facing facing the healthcare system and how mediation is being used to change the culture across the NHS.  The forum will also look at best practice in dispute resolution as well as allowing for shared experiences and networking opportunities.

The forum will be chaired by David Liddle, Chairman of the PMA and founder of mediation provider The TCM Group, and will be held at The UK Mediation Academy in Hatton Garden, Central London.
